چکیده
A comprehensive experimental study that quantifies the influence of coupled compression and shear wave loading on liquefaction susceptibility sands is presented. Such typical in situ, leads to complex principal stress rotation, which turn impacts potential for soils even if cyclic intensity remains constant. The nature degree rotation caused by this are significantly influenced initial consolidation state, (ΔS), normal (ΔN) increments, ratio ΔS/ΔN, phase shift (δ) between waves. Cyclic hollow cylinder torsional tests were carried out Fraser River sand specimens isotropically consolidated different effective mean [Formula: see text] subjected with representative ΔS/ΔN. For a given (CSR) text], resistance decreases increasing s-wave relative p-wave intensity, proxies increments ΔS ΔN, respectively. Liquefaction an increase ΔS/ΔN up limiting value about 2 beyond does not resistance. finding consistent understanding lower under simple mode compared triaxial shear. Tests results also demonstrate confining regardless This indicates correction K σ factor (ratio at = 100 kPa) can be considered generalized conditions.

متن کاملFinite element assessment of the effects of seismic loading rate on soil liquefaction
The influence of frequency content of seismic excitation on the extent and pattern of pore-water pressure build-up in saturated soil deposits is addressed. Seismic acceleration time histories are generated as uniformly modulated nonstationary stochastic processes, in accordance with prescribed response spectra and prescribed modulating functions. Based on numerical examples, it is shown that th...

In the present article a numerical procedure is developed for dynamic analysis of single and double autofrettage of thick–walled FG cylinders under transient loading. The governing differential equations are discretized and presented in explicit Lagrangian formalism. The explicit transient solution of discrete equations are obtained on the meshed region and results for stress and strain distrib...

In this paper, size-dependent effects on the vibration behavior of Timoshenko microbeams under pre-stress loading embedded in an elastic foundation, using modified strain gradient theory (MSGT) and surface stress effects, were studied. To consider the surface stress effects, the Gurtin–Murdoch continuum mechanical approach was employed. Using Hamilton’s principle, the governing equations of mot...

The objective is to study the deformation in a homogeneous isotropic modified couple stress thermoelastic rotating medium in the presence of Hall current and magnetic field due to a ramp-type thermal source. The generalized theories of thermoelasticity developed by Lord Shulman (L-S, 1967) and Green Lindsay (G-L, 1972) are used to investigate the problem. Laplace and Fourier transform technique...
